How You Can Make Money Reselling Hosting

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

Is it really true that you can make money by reselling hosting? Possibly, but first consider what web host reselling really is. This process involves a user that becomes a web host without having to invest in heavy equipment or a large infrastructure. For that matter, this new web host doesn’t even have to know too much about the mechanics of Internet communications.

Basically, in this scenario you are selling a professional web hosting company’s services as your own. This process is also known as private labeling. You are not so much a webmaster as you are a reseller. You could compare this type of business to becoming an affiliate or even a franchise store. The web host company will give you a discounted rate on their services and then wait for you to sell it off to others. You are not technically an affiliate because you are making profit on your own and not reporting back to the company. You are not a franchise because you don’t give back anything to the parent store. Rather, you are selling a product (that is, web space) for a price that you set.

You do need some investment money, since you are essentially buying all of this web space that you are going to lease out, just as a landlord might. It should relieve you to know however, that investments costs are minimal. Some reseller hosting plans start as low as $20 a month. You can see why such a plan would be very profitable, as there are no huge startup costs involved.

You may be wondering how the technical aspects of this opportunity work. After all, how can you provide web space to a customer that expects fast and accurate customer support? Most companies that offer reseller website hosting will continue to provide technical support. This provision allows the company to worry about various technical considerations while you continue focusing your efforts on selling web space. In addition, the web hosting company continues to manage your servers and handle all billing issues on behalf of you.

What are some of the ways that people can make money with reselling hosting? Creating and selling businesses on auction sites like eBay have proven successful. Blogs are very trendy right now and so offering dedicated blog hosting services has also paid off. There really are no limits to how you could market this opportunity!

My Host Gator Review

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

Well some time back I decided to place my forum on my own hosting being with one of those free forum host packages before. Not really knowing much of what I needed I settle on a hosting service. From day one I had endless problems and when reporting them to support would get back pre scripted replies at times having no relevance to my problem. So it was time to find another host so I began researching host reading review after review.

During my research Host Gator kept popping up with excellent reviews. I was a bit suspicious at first as they were all great reviews with very little negative. This really made me think that no company could have so many happy customers so I sort of kept putting Host Gator to the bottom of my list. However Host Gator kept on jumping to the top no matter how I tried to ignore it.

So the time came to make a decision as my current situation was becoming unbearable sending around 4 to 5 mails a day trying to get my problem sorted out with my then current host. So I purchased a month hosting with Host Gator and the process started. I needed my current forum moved across plus my domain name and Host Gator offered to take the burden off me and do it all.

So now my correspondence started with Host Gator and lots of it. Opening sales tickets and support tickets and slowly working through the process. So what do I like about Host Gator

1.The support is excellent and getting help is just so easy and quick.
2.No scripted replies you are actually speaking to a real live person
3.3 Ways of getting support ticket system online or via e-mail, online chat function and the best of all for me I can phone in using Skype. For me this is a big plus living outside the USA.
4.The efficient way my transfer was done. Even when the transfer of my domain name was rejected by my then current host and my site ha already been moved over. It was no problem for the transfer staff to redo it again for me once my domain name had been sorted out.
5.Had a few problems with my site once it was all working and the support team really went out of their way to sort out all these small issues as quickly as possible.

So now I can fully understand when doing my research why I did not come across many negative responses to Host Gator. So I would like to thanks all the staff at Host Gator sales, technical and transfer team for a great job done and making a previously unhappy customer a very happy customer.

So if you are not already a customer of Host Gator be sure to use a discount coupon to get your first month for 1 cent!

cPanel Reseller Hosting For Both Windows and Linux Users

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

If you’re buying into a reseller account that has both Windows and Linux support, you may find yourself at a loss at the sort of web panel you want installed. What kind of web panel would get the best of both worlds, so to speak, and at the same time would remain easy to use? If you’re looking for flexible, easy-to-use reseller web software, try getting cPanel reseller hosting.

Ease of use is the biggest selling point of cPanel reseller hosting. In fact, cPanel has been called the “Microsoft of web panels.” If we’re going to ask ourselves WHY cPanel is perhaps the most popular web space administration tool out there, we’ll have to ask the millions of satisfied customers who’ve experienced cPanel and how it makes commands easier to execute, even to brand-new, fresh-faced webmasters.

It’s the graphical interface, first and foremost, that makes cPanel so much fun to play around with. And an element of playfulness is important, especially for people who are nervous about touching web space for the first time! In addition, the use of mainly icons to represent most of the features available on one’s chosen web hosting package is reminiscent of the way Windows displays its many functions. And nearly every computer user in the world is familiar with Windows. In fact, an estimated 90% of all computer users in the world run Windows on their personal machines. This is counting the ones who also patronize alternative operating systems such as the Macintosh and Linux. A single personal computer can have more than one operating system (OS) installed, after all.

One more interesting thing is, cPanel is actually a Linux program. It is a proprietary software that was made specifically for large server use. You only need to license cPanel once per server, which makes cPanel a practical alternative to resellers, especially those who can appreciate the power and economy of adopting open source operating systems like Linux. And when it comes to end users, they too can appreciate the ease of use afforded by this web panel.

Let it not be said that cPanel only accommodates open-source software. This particular web management software continues to grow and gain greater flexibility. A multitude of plugins and extra features have been added to cPanel, such as Fantastico and RVSkins. And even if your end-users only have Windows machines with which to interact with your Linux servers, they can enjoy the best of both worlds with cPanel reseller hosting!

Choosing VDS Hosting For Resellers

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

More and more resellers tend to provide their customers with VDS - Virtual Dedicated Server.

VDS is the most advanced step in server virtualization technology. Through the technology of virtualization, you are able to host your site on an isolated, private environment with complete access to the operating system and all software. Each virtual dedicated server provides you the full control, security and flexibility of a dedicated server. Reseller who considers moving to VDS hosting plan should note the following:

1. Overselling - is a situation in which a company provides hosting plans that are unsustainable if every one of its customers uses the full extent of services advertised. In reality, overselling is not really bad if the web host is able to closely monitor the service status. The web host also needs to make sure that they are able to provide their customer with the level of service that was stated in their agreement. If the web host is able to do these two things, then overselling should be fine as it should bring the company more profits than problems. This is why almost all the web hosting companies are now using this overselling strategy.

2. VDS Host environment is completely independent of all the other VDS systems, and memory, disk space, and CPU processes can also be isolated for each VDS. This gives you most of the benefits of a dedicated server at a far lower price, some of these benefits include your own secure, and separate VDS hosting environment, full remote control of your server, host as many sites on your ’server’ as you wish with no additional monthly cost. You will also have the ability to install & configure whatever you like on your ’server’ alongside enhanced control, including server reboots and backups.

3. VDS Hosting systems can be moved to other physical hardware in minutes, thus vastly reducing recovery times in the event of hardware failures. With VDS technology, each user has their own control panel, which they can also use to change their server configuration settings, such as PHP configuration changes in php.ini, Apache web server settings in httpd.conf and MySQL configuration.

4. Whenever you are searching for a reliable web host, you should keep in mind that you get what you pay for. With this in mind, you should know that cheaper is not always better. Make sure that the web host you choose to use has multiple support options. Research the web host to find out how long it has been in business. And the last and very important is to look at the web host’s main web site. If you notice that it is slow, then more than likely your web site is going to be slow as well.

Choosing Your Web Host

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

With thousands of website hosting companies all wanting your business, carefully consider these 7 points below, designed to help you make the best possible decision for your website.

1. Server Space

Think about how much space your site will need. Unless you are planning on having a software distribution company or running an image gallery, the files/pages that make up your website will probably only use between 2 and 10 megabytes of disk space. Hosting companies will offer several hundreds of megabytes, often gigabytes, of space for a very reasonable fee, trying to out perform the competitors and attract your business. It is true that you should allow your website space to grow but at the same time do not opt for what seems like a great deal with a massive amount of space if you will never use all of the space offered. Chances are, with a little searching, you will find a better deal for an amount of space more suitable for your site size. If it is a personal website then the maximum space you will need is 50 megabytes. All hosting companies offer an upgrade facility should you require more space later.

2. Bandwidth - Data Transfer Allowance

This decision is made on the same basis as the space decision. Though you may believe that your website will be the next eBay, Yahoo or Amazon and receive a millions of visitors each day, be realistic! The majority of websites have just a few visitors a day. The chances that you will need more than 500 MB of bandwidth in any one month are slim if your website is a personal / homepage web site and just as with space you are able to upgrade at any time should the need arise. “Awesome deals” are enticing, but realism should be your goal - why spend money on space you cannot possibly use? Be wary of web hosting companies offering “unlimited” data transfer as there are usually some fineprint stipulations that make this claim questionable. If you have a small to medium business then one gigabyte of bandwidth allowance is plenty.

3. Support

Ideally a web hosting company will offer 24/7 email support at the minimum and preferably with telephone support. There is nothing more frustrating than being in the middle of working on your web site and you need a piece of information to finish the work and not being able to contact your web hosting company to find it out. That said, most hosting companies do offer informative, comprehensive online FAQ and knowledge base type support and you should take some time to investigate this aspect of the hosting company you are considering, reading the provided information - consider it part of the learning process at the same time.

4. Scripts and cgi-bin Access

It does not matter what sort of website you are planning, chances are that at some time in the future, if not immediately, you will need to install some type of cgi or perl script and this requires access to a special folder-directory on your server named the “cgi-bin”. You need to ensure the hosting plan offers this. Also be sure that the account you are considering supports the language in which your scripts are written, such as php and perl.

5. Control Panel

One important point to remember is that the simplest Control Panel that comes with your hosting account is named cPanel - so that should be a serious consideration high on your list when comparing web hosting companies. There are various control panel software offered, including plesk and others, but cPanel really is the simplest to use especially for someone new to websites. Ideally you want a linux server with cPanel. Another advantage of cPanel is that usually includes a one-click-install system named Fantastico, making the installation of such things as guestbooks, bulletin boards, blogs and a lot more, very simple.

6. Reputation

It is difficult to define a way to ensure that the web hosting company you choose is reputable, but there are signs that can indicate their reliability. On their website see if they mention how long they have been in business as this will be an indicator of their likely permanency. This can often be found under a link named About Us. See if there are any testimonials posted on their website by current clients. If your friends have a website, ask them details about their web host, the support they receive and how they feel. In addition there are web hosting companies specialising in specific areas; for example, a web hosting company may specialize in hosting websites for golfers; such a host is likely to have specific knowledge of the requirements of golfing enthusiasts and you may do well to consider such a host if your website is based around a specific topic.

Remember that the largest host boasting a huge number of clients, is not necessarily the ideal either. Whilst they may have the knowledge and experience, do they have the personal support that you will likely need or will you end up being just a number amongst the thousands? Consider all these points when you choose your web host, and do not be afraid to email them before you sign up and clarify any points that you are unsure about.

What About Unique IP Hosting

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

A unique IP hosting sounds rather special in terms of web hosting. We are all familiar with free web hosting, dedicated hosting and shared hosting. But what is it really about?

It is like any other hosting but it is a kind of hosting where the web company gives you a specific server and domain for your web internet needs. A unique IP hosting is also known as static web hosting. This kind of hosting is much suited for large companies wanting a sort of different from the rest.

Upon signing up with this kind of service, the web provider company will immediately provide a unique IP address for you. This means that only people who knows the IP address can visit this website. Thus, the security for this kind of web hosting is considerably high. Therefore, the companies that choose unique IP hosting will not have to bear with spamming problems ever again.

Many large companies go for this because they provide more complex design layout in the website. Unique IP hosting even provides a SSL certificate with anonymous FTP. This certificate guarantees that the online transaction done on this website is safe and secured. This gives the added assurance that most clients look for.

With the FTP anonymous access, the provider allows the sharing of information on the internet making the website accessible to whoever that knows the website address. This feature often helps the company to generate more profit because it gives a much better result in the search engine.

There is also more security which can be controlled by the owner of the website. That is why this kind of web hosting is a class above other methods of web hosting because of it superiority over them. This type of hosting plan is also affordable for a wide range of serious business builders. To them, this hosting would be a smart investment that can lead them to huge success.

Reliable Sources For Cheap Hosting

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

The word “cheap” has come to mean several things; it can refer to something that is offered at a significantly discounted price, it can mean something is poorly made and not of good value, or it can mean an economical item or service that is of a relatively good overall value.

When thinking about cheap hosting, a consumer must realize that just as “cheap” can mean a variety of things, so too can cheap hosting. Today’s web hosting providers can offer the simplest services, such as a space on a server and the FTP software to download files such as graphics and applications. Unfortunately, many cheap hosting companies like to encourage consumers to sign up for such a limited service, when only a bit of research and a tad more expense could provide an individual or company with a great deal more than the “basics”.

What services are available to those looking for cheap hosting? Because of the wide availability of free applications, such as Linux which is the most popular platform used to create websites and web pages, cheap hosting companies are now making many Linux compatible applications available to their clients. For example, many professionals utilize web development programs like Apache or PHP, and even a cheap web hosting service should ensure that their clients can utilize any pre-made or pre-established work easily on their server. In the end this should mean that the creation and maintenance of both high and low functioning websites should be possible with a cheap hosting provider.

Additionally, a consumer should also make sure that their cheap hosting company provides some measure of updated security on the server and its operating websites. While there are many ways a good code writer can integrate security into a web page, the server itself can come under attack and the cheap hosting company should deliver some guarantees of security and stability.

Where do you look for cheap hosting resources? There are many search engines that can provide the names and web addresses for the thousands of professional providers, but it is a good idea to do some comparison shopping and seek out reviews whenever available. It is also important to understand exactly what is needed from the cheap hosting company.

How to Find a Better Web Host

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by j02 on 26-04-2009

The biggest fear an online marketer has is that his or her website will crash, freeze or experience any other significant problems that shut down the business for even a short period of time. This could be a very serious situation in that the site owner loses not only the immediate purchases (while the website is silent) but a much greater number of searchers and warm leads who won’t bother to come back. This problem is exacerbated for businesses with parity pricing or product benefits because there are other options for consumers to choose from while they are in the buying mode.

To make matters worse, choosing the right host for your website can be a difficult and nerve racking process, especially for online retail novices. You’re likely to find yourself wondering how you can tell if the company is as reliable as it claims to be; what kind of guarantees you should expect them to offer and what make-good policy you should negotiate, if any. To complicate things further, host suppliers speak a different language full of techno jargon.

It’s not surprising the, until now, you were bound to be disappointed no matter what since no company could guarantee fail-safe hosting. Perhaps that’s why it took software superstar Armand Morin ten years to perfect Hostorix, which has a built-in mechanism that ensures a redundant server kicks in so you never have to stop accepting orders.

Morin’s web hosting service includes a plethora of additional benefits that makes it the go-to system for even the most sophisticated web retailer. For one, it accommodates an unlimited number of domains so multi-site owners can more easily manage their businesses. It also has space with raid-based redundancy, includes anti-virus and spam tools and employs Zend Optimizer which helps websites run significantly faster.

Those new to Internet retailing will appreciate that Hostorix uses the most popular configuration management software, Cpanel. This management interface is an especially user-friendly environment which makes changing settings and building databases a snap. Additionally Fantastico allows one-click installation of several must-have software programs like Wordpress and shopping cart. Back-end analysis is easier as well given that Hostorix provides several different ways to check stats, notably Awstats, Urchin and raw log files.
